Lightsheer Duet Laser
The new lightsheer duet laser treatment is a means of long-lasting hair reduction that is much more comfortable than traditional laser treatments and can be done in much shorter treatment times. It transmits a higher concentration of light pulses to the hair follicles, and treats a larger area, called spot size, with each pulse. The LightSheer DUET laser system for hair removal allows practitioners a greater ability to treat patients, even those with darker skin or lighter hair, with new levels of safety, reliability, and comfort.
 What the lightsheer duet laser treatment system does is use vacuum-assist technology and increased spot size, which together allow for deeper penetration of energy and more hair removal during the same treatment time. The lightsheer duet laser is not only for removing hair. The LightSheer DUET system is also used for treating leg veins in patients who desire a less-invasive and painful method than traditional sclerotherapy injections. It is also used to remove benign pigmented lesions and pseudofolliculitis barbae, which are commonly referred to as razor bumps.
The lightsheer duet laser treatment works by using vacuum-assist technology, which gently pulls the skin and hair follicles closer to the handpiece, constricting blood flow and stretching melanocytes apart before applying the pulse. The LightSheer DUET is a dual system with two wavelength options both with up to 400 ms pulse widths and wavelengths up to 800 nm. The LightSheer ET allows for a 9 x 9 mm spot size. The LightSheer HS, using vacuum-assist, allows a spot size which can be increased up to a 22 x 35 mm area. A wider treatment area means less pulses are needed per site. For example, treating leg hair on both legs with the ET system, using a spot size of 9 x 9 mm, requires approximately 10,000 pulses. However, using the HS system, the practitioner has a 22 x 35 mm treatment area, requiring approximately only 1,052 pulses. While traditional treatment to leg hair takes approximately 60 minutes, it's reduced to only 20 minutes with the lightsheer duet laser. Fewer pulses per site and reduced treatment times result in greater patient comfort.
In comparison to other techniques, the lightsheer duet laser treatment system is less painful and messy and more permanent than waxing, electrolysis, plucking, shaving, and depilatory creams. Compared to traditional laser treatment, treatment time is reduced by up to seventy-five percent, and is so comfortable for the client that no topical anesthetics are needed.
